
The volunteer crossing program was started about 40 years ago in Fresno, California. A number of agencies have run and monitored the program throughout the years. Safe 2 School, Inc. was established in 2010 by Michael O’Hare, former FUSD school board member, as a non-profit to continue this service to our community.
I started working with my father in 2017 to assist in transportation to the schools and office management. Working with S2S has ignited my passion, conviction, and enthusiasm for our organization to be a dynamic presence in our city and school district regarding community and school safety. To continue my father’s legacy, I have recently been appointed Executive Director of Safe 2 School, upon his retirement. I am excited to grow our organization and serve our community. Over the past seven years, God has grown not only my knowledge of how non-profits are run in our area, but also expanded my heart for the families in our school district.
When I originally joined my father, he was the founder and sole employee. We hired our third employee in November 2022, Ana. She currently serves as our Office Manager/Volunteer Coordinator. She is from Honduras and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Ana is a huge asset to our growing team! Lastly, we welcome Christian, and Intern from Fresno State. He joins us as our Social Media Coordinator and volunteers as a crossing guard at one of our local elementary schools.
We are excited about what the 2023-2024 school year holds for our agency, our schools, and our city.
